ATEX sensors

Intrinsically Safe Sensors Most of our Force Sensors and Weighing & Load Cells offered on our website are intrinsically safe for use in hazardous areas.   A wide selection of intrinsically safe and ATEX approved sensors are available.

ATEX/IECEx approved intrinsically safe sensors to be used in hazardous areas.

The line of intrinsically safe measuring instruments ALTHEN meets the requirements of professionals working in and around hazardous areas. The devices are designed for use in chemical and petrochemical enterprises, oil platforms, refineries, as well as in other places where there is a danger of explosion. Intrinsic safety standards apply to all equipment capable of creating one type or a whole range of specific potential sources of explosion:
  • electric sparks;
  • electric arcs;
  • flame;
  • hot surfaces;
  • static electricity;
  • electromagnetic radiation;
  • chemical reactions;
  • mechanical shock;
  • mechanical friction;
  • compression ignition;
  • sound wave energy;
  • ionizing radiation.
What are ATEX/IECEx sensors? ATEX is a European certification, that determines that our sensors are allowed to be used within an explosive or hazardous environment. ATEX itself means: ATmosphere EXplosibles. Explosive atmospheres in the workplace can be caused by flammable gases, mists or vapours or by combustible dusts. When these are combined with an ignition source, they can become explosive. Our ATEX/IECEx sensors can be used in industries like: gas and oil platforms, mines, flour mills, shipping yards and refineries.   Contact us to order.
